Two Berkeley men who pleaded no contest to charges of unlawful sex with a minor are expected to be sentenced in a plea agreement.
Ryan Garvey, 24, and
Lawrence Hardin, 30, will likely be sentenced to one year in county jail and five years probation for the statutory rape of a 13-year-old girl near West Berkeley last year. Police arrested Garvey and Hardin last Sept. 13 near West Berkeley on suspicion of rape and lewd conduct with a minor after a passerby reported a young girl calling for help from a residence on Allston Way
near Spaulding Avenue. A third man,
Alvin Usher, 24, pleaded no contest in April to one statutory rape charge in relation to the Sept. 13 rape after he was arrested in December by Berkeley police. - (
