5 Year-Old Lousiana Boy May Have Been Burned Alive in Vendetta Against His Mother

A 5-year boy is kidnapped and killed at an abandoned home

A five year old boy is kidnapped and killed in Coushatta. Authorities say it all began with a kidnapping in Natchitoches.

Deputies say five year old Corinthian Houston was kidnapped from his home on Carver Alley around nine o'clock Saturday night.

Two men are behind bars. Terrence Carter is being held at the Red River Parish jail on first degree homicide and aggravated kidnapping.

George Herring the third is behind bars in Natchitoches. He's charged with aggravated kidnapping.

Around three Sunday morning, deputies spotted the van believed to be d
riven by herring at the Budget Inn in Coushatta. They say Herring drove them to Smith Community road, where they found Terrence Carter.

Authorities say the boy's body was found in an abandoned home off Smith Community road.

Sheriff Johnny Norman says this little boy's mother had a relationship with Carter at one point and this may have been a way of getting back at her. The child's mother has returned to her family in Campti. The child's body's been sent to Shreveport for an autopsy.

Carter, who lived with his mother next door to the abandoned house
, was arrested after the boy's body was found. Norman said investigators determined that the abduction and killing followed a dispute between Carter and the boy's mother.

"It's a useless deal — just a vendetta, I guess you'd call it," Norman said. "He was trying to get back at his girlfriend."

The boy, Corinthian Houston, was found tied to a leather chair. Norman said an electrical cord was wrapped around the child's neck, but he was not believed to have been strangled. An autopsy was pending.
The boy's body was discovered by one of Carter's brothers, and their mother called police, Byron Carter, another of his brothers, told The Times of Shreveport.

Terrence Carter and a co-worker, George Herring III of Coushatta, were arrested on kidnapping warrants Sunday, and Carter was booked on a count of first-degree murder, Natchitoches police Lt. Chris Stanfield said.

Grand Jury Charges Coushatta Man with Child's Burning Death

The grand jury in Red River Parish Wednesday indicted Terrance Carter for the kidnapping-burning death of his girlfriend's 5-year-old son.

Carter, 27, of Coushatta, was charged with first-degree murder of Corinthian Houston. District Attorney Bill Jones said he will seek a death sentence.

The little boy was kidnapped July 1 from in front of his grandmother's house in Natchitoches. Prosecutors said Carter took Corinthian to a [COLOR="red"]vacant house[/C

Carter was arrested the following day after the child's body was found.
