I'm surprised this actual description was used in an official statement by the Police. I can see Maoris complaining about 'racism' over this. They won't complain about the crime itself, naturally.
From the details, I strongly suspect this attack was a Hate Crime from start to finish. http://www.stuff.co.nz/stuff/0,2106,3701503a10,00.html Hunt for 'filthy savage' after rape attack 15 June 2006 A man who repeatedly raped a woman in her South Auckland home on Tuesday night was a "filthy savage" who must be stopped, say police. Detectives said they were appalled by the savagery of the attack when the man, who smelt of alcohol, handcuffed his 37-year-old victim and beat her repeatedly for five hours to make her do what he wanted. Police said the attack was vicious, prolonged and premeditated, as the man had been watchin g the woman before he attacked. The deeply traumatised woman was staying with relatives and may not go back to the home she owned and moved into less than a fortnight ago. Detective Senior Sergeant Neil Grimstone said the man tricked his way into the woman's Pukekohe house about 9pm on Tuesday. Once inside the man, a Maori in his late 30s or early 40s, handcuffed the woman, put a pillowcase over her head and "over the next four to five hours subjected her to an horrific sexual attack". Early on yesterday morning he forced her into her own car and took her to a money machine in Pukekohe in an effort to get money from her account. "She has managed to escaped from the vehicle and run to a nearby BP service station, where the police were called." The man drove off in her car, which he crashed a short distance away, before fleeing on foot. Mr Grimstone said the handcuffs were removed and an ambulance took the woman to hospital where she was treated for facia l injuries and massive bruising. Her medical examination had to be done twice because the bruising continued to come out as doctors examined her, he said. The woman was very brave and had it not been for her courage she could have been murdered, he said. "I suggest the trauma of the ordeal she has undergone is going to last the rest of her life," he said. "This filthy savage needs to be held to account and he needs to be caught and caught quickly. "In the space of four to five hours he has completely destroyed this woman's life and no female should ever be subjected to what this woman has gone through. "This offending is at the top end of the criminal calendar and it really has me shaking my head and I really think she is a very brave and lucky woman to be alive." Mr Grimstone said 45 staff were working on the inquiry. He said someone in the Pukekohe area would know the man and police were appealing to those people to help. It was too ea rly to talk about DNA samples but forensic experts were studying the house and the woman's car, he said. Police had yet to determine where the handcuffs came from. Weapons were used during the attack but it was not yet known if they were taken to the woman's house or if they were picked up at the house. Mr Grimstone appealed for anyone with information about the attack or the attacker to call them on (09) 295 0220. |

Its rare indeed Rasp, its nice to see an acknowledgement of their true nature instead of somehow being 'victims of society'.
The latest news is that the Cops are worried this Nig has attacked before. Offenders don't just step up to this kind of drawn out confident crime with multiple offences commited at the same time, robbery etc. http://www.newstalkzb.co.nz/newsdeta...?storyID=97893 He says the attack was so serious, they are treating it like they would a homicide inquiry. Detective Senior Sergeant Grimstone says the case is very similar to recent attack in Hastings. |

Woman raped at home days after moving in
17 June 2006 A woman subjected to what police have described as a "chilling and depraved" sex attack in her home had moved in only three days earlier, a neighbour said today. The 37-year-old victim was handcuffed and had a pillow put over her head as she was repeated raped by an intruder in Pukekohe, south of Auckland, on Tuesday night. Neighbour Hayley Buchanan, 24, was home at the time, but heard nothing next door. She said the woman had shifted in only last weekend. "It's horrible," she said. "She moved in on Saturday and it happened on Tuesday night." Ms Buchanan, who is pregnant, said she and her partner were now finding somewhere else to live. "We've got a dog anyway," she said. "But that's ju st made us move." Meanwhile, police released further details about the repeated abuse after her attacker forced his way in through a sliding glass door by asking to use a phone. Detective Senior Sergeant Neil Grimstone said the man bashed the woman to a compliant state. If she didn't accede to his demands, he became increasingly violent. "Over the four to five hours of her ordeal, he has sexually violated and raped her in every possible fashion, including using foreign objects," he said. "He has also, after each violation, made her shower and wash thoroughly." Mr Grimstone said criminal profilers believed the offender's current or previous partner would recognise the behaviour, and he urged her to call police. "What I'm told is that she will recognise violence before sex as common in their relationship." Mr Grimstone again praised the courage of the victim, who had been able to provide police with a lot of information. "She has said, I'm not going to let this man get the better of me. I'm going to pull myself together. I can deal with this.' "It's just unbelievable how she is managing to cope." The woman was badly bruised around the face during her ordeal and also suffered swelling and abrasions over her body. She escaped when the man forced her into her own car and drove to a money machine to try to get money out of her account. As they approached the money machine, she dropped her bank cards as a diversion and fled to a nearby service station. The man drove off but crashed the car after a short distance and left on foot. He was described as an unshaven Maori in his late 30s or early 40s, with wrinkles around his eyes and smelling of stale beer. He was reported as wearing a black baseball cap with white trim, a green hooded nylon jacket, dark pants, a black woollen scarf and black woollen gloves. But as he left the woman's house, he had on a blue pair of women' s jeans and a black windbreaker jacket, items he had taken from the property. Mr Grimstone said there had been numerous phone calls from the public, but again appealed for anyone with information to ring police on 09-2950220. |
