Cops: Man Slashed Ex-Girlfriend's Throat At Work

LEOMINSTER, Mass. (CBS) ― A man was arrested after he allegedly slashed his girlfriend's throat while she was at work CBS station WBZ-TV reported.



According to police, officers received a call from United Solutions, a plastic manufacturer in Leominster, Mass., around 7 a.m. on Sunday. It appears Aaron Noel Camey Valenzuela, who works at the company, slashed the throat of his ex-girlfriend. Police say Valenzuela also slashed another woman in the face who was trying to help the victim.

"An employee cut his girlfriend's throat," a caller told the 911 dispatcher. "He cut his own throat and he's cutting his wrists right now. He's got a knife cutting his wrist."

Police have not identified the victims.

The girlfriend was rushed to UMass Medical Center. Police say she is in stable condition and is expected to survive. The woman whose face was cut was taken to Leominster Hospital for treatment.

After allegedly cutting his girlfriend's throat, Valenzuela reportedly slashed his wrist and his stomach and ran into some nearby woods.

He was captured by police about three hours later near an apple orchard. A news cameraman spotted the suspect moving and alerted the police who quickly moved in to arrest Valenzuela.

Valenzuela was taken to Leominster Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

Police say there was a domestic dispute between the couple three weeks ago that was handled by the company's human resource department. The company said Valenzuela and his ex-girlfriend were stationed at separate ends of the building after the incident.

Valenzuela is charged with assault with attempt to murder and two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. He is being held on $25,000 cash bail and will be arraigned on Monday.

The Boston Herald reports that Valenzuela was deported four years ago, but managed to re-enter the United States illegally.
