Mother, Son Charged In Vicious Upper Darby Beating

UPPER DARBY (CBS 3) ― A mother and son were taken into custody after vicious beating outside an Upper Darby bar early Saturday morning.



Surveillance cameras from a nearby store show a group of suspects pummeling a man unconscious outside the a bar on West Chester Pike.

The altercation apparently began inside the bar and spilled out onto the sidewalk, which is located across the street from a police station.

After knocking the 37-year-old victim unconscious, the group of suspects continued to kick and stomp him. When a Good Samaritan tried to break up the fight, he was thrown to the ground and assaulted.

Surveillance video shows 45-year-old Bonita Carlton stop the Good Samartian during a second rescue attempt while her 25-year-old son, Rhashad, continued the assault.

Fortunately Officer John News spotted the incident and intervened. Keeping the suspects at bay with his Taser, Officer News was able to take mother and son into custody.

"News probably saved the victim from being kicked to death on the streets of our community," Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood said.

Investigators believe the altercation began with a perceived insult directed towards someone's mother.

Both Bonita and Rhashad Carlton are facing criminal charges. Several additional suspects are sought in connection with the incident.

Mom Offers Apology In Vicious Upper Darby Beating

UPPER DARBY (CBS 3) ― A mammy spoke out after she and her nigger thug son were taken into custody following a vicious beating outside an Upper Darby bar early Saturday morning.

Surveillance cameras from a nearby store show a group of suspects pummeling a man unconscious outside a bar on West Chester Pike.

Bonita Carlton, who faces criminal charges in connection with the incident, offered an apology to the victim after being released on bail.

"I'm sorry. I was trying to protect my son and my son was trying to protect me," she told CBS 3's Natasha Brown.

Investigators believe the altercation began with a perceived insult directed towards someone's mother. Carlton told CBS 3 the victim attempted to rob her prior to the assault.

The 37-year-old suffered severe injury in the attack, including bleeding to the brain.

Rhashad Carlton remains held on $100,000 bail and could face charges of attempted murder. Several additional suspects are sought in connection with the incident.

The lowdown, lowlife, sadistic jigs felt the victim had 'dissed' the mammy. And how could he help but to "dis" her? There's not one iota of respect between the both of them.
