Ex-Giant Lawrence Taylor busted in Florida

Former Giants great Lawrence Taylor was busted last night in Florida for taking off after he was involved in a car accident, authorities said.

The 50-year-old NFL Hall of Famer was arrested in Dade County for "leaving the scene of accident/property damage," shortly before 10 p.m., Florida officials told The Post.

Taylor, who played his entire career with Big Blue and won two Super Bowls, was quickly released on $500 bond.

NFL groid arrested for rape

Football's Lawrence Taylor held in rape probe

Pro football Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor was arrested Thursday morning in connection with a rape investigation in a New York City suburb.

Taylor, 51, was arrested after an alleged rape at a hotel in Montebello, N.Y.

Det. Lt. Brad Weidel of Ramapo County said Taylor would not be charged before the police investigation is completed.

Police said they would hold a news conference this afternoon.

The former New York Giants linebacker is considered one of the greatest football players of all time but has battled substance abuse problems and been arrested several times since his playing days.

He was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame in 1999 after a career that included two Super Bowls, three defensive most valuable player awards and 142 sacks.

He appeared in films Shaft and Any Given Sunday and as a contestant earlier this year on Dancing With the Stars. Most recently, he talked about his personal battles on an episode of the reality TV show Intervention.

In 2001, Taylor was convicted of possessing drug paraphernalia in New Jersey. The conviction stemmed from the September 1998 discovery in a hotel room of a butane torch and other materials commonly used to smoke crack.

In 1996 and 1997, he was arrested in South Carolina and Florida on drug charges. In those cases, he either admitted his guilt or agreed to enter a pretrial intervention program.

In 2000, he drew five years of federal probation for filing false tax returns and for tax evasion. More recently, he was arrested last November in Miami after leaving the scene of an automobile accident.

Former NFL Great Lawrence Taylor Charged With Rape

SUFFERN, N.Y. -- Pro Football Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor was arrested Thursday on rape and prostitution charges in an assault on a 16-year-old runaway who police said was brought to his suburban New York City hotel room against her will.

The former New York Giants linebacker was arrested early Thursday at a Holiday Inn in Suffern, said Christopher St. Lawrence, supervisor of the town of Ramapo. The victim was 16, one year below the legal age of consent in New York, St. Lawrence said.

Ramapo Chief of Police Peter Brower said Taylor was cooperative when police woke him up around 4 a.m. Taylor was to be arraigned later Thursday on charges of third-degree rape and patronizing a prostitute.

Brower would not comment on whether Taylor knew the girl's age but added, "Ignorance is not an excuse to an individual's age."

An attorney for Taylor, Kenneth Gribetz, said, "We're confident his innocence will be proven."

Rasheed Davis, a 36-year-old parolee, was arrested in the case on charges of unlawful imprisonment, assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police said the girl was reported missing by her family in March and had been staying with Davis in the Bronx for a few weeks. Early Thursday morning, he beat her up, drove her to the hotel and told her she had to have sex with Taylor, police said. When she refused, Davis handed her over to Taylor, who sexually assaulted her, they said. Taylor paid her $300, which she gave to Davis, police said.

Davis "struck the young girl with his fist, kicked her and brought her to the Holiday Inn against her will," NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said.

On the way back from Suffern, the girl sent text messages to her uncle spelling out what had happened, Browne said. The uncle then went to the NYPD, he said.

Davis was sentenced in April 1994 to eight to 25 years in prison for first-degree manslaughter. He was paroled in March 2008.

There was no phone number listed at the address provided by police for Davis and it wasn't clear if he had an attorney. His relationship with the girl was unclear.

The Bronx district attorney's office refused to comment.

Taylor was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1999 and competed in ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" last year. He had a highly publicized struggle with drug addiction and has had multiple legal run-ins since retiring from football.

Police said no drugs were found in Taylor's hotel room on Thursday, but a bottle of alcohol was found.

Lawrence Taylor rape case: Ex-Giant admits paying teen hooker $300, but didn't know her age

Lawrence Taylor, right, and his attorney Arthur Idala, left, leave the Ramapo Police Department Thursday after the former Giant great was charged with rape.

Rasheed "Peanut Head" Davis, who faces sex trafficking charges.

Lecherous ex-linebacker Lawrence Taylor admitted paying a hooker $300 for sex - but he may not have known the girl he's charged with raping is just 16, according to court papers.

The ex-Giant star's admission appeared yesterday in a criminal complaint against pimp Rasheed Davis, who was hit with a sex trafficking charge in Manhattan Federal Court.

Davis beat the teenager before delivering her to Taylor's hotel room early Thursday and told her to tell him "she was 19 years old," the document states.

When Taylor was confronted by cops, he said he "met with a female" that police identified as the teenager. After "engaging in sex acts" LT paid her "$300 in cash."

Ex-wife Maritza Cruz told The Daily News "he always had a lot of no-good and crazy women throwing themselves at him."

"He's definitely no saint," she added. "But I don't believe he would do such a thing. He would have to have been in a crazy state of mind to do something like that, but as far as I know, he's been sober for years."

Taylor's lawyer, Arthur Aidala, and his current wife, Lynette, contend the former footballer did not rape - or have sex - with anybody at the Holiday Inn in Montebello, N.Y. They say the 51-year-old Hall of Famer was "set up."

In the Bronx, the big sister of the teen hooker told The News she had no idea who her john was - but Taylor also had no idea the "skinny Spanish girl" he paid for was a minor.

Davis, who dubbed the teenager "Carmen," warned her "she would get a worse beating if she tried to tell Mr. Taylor anything," said the 17-year-old sis, who spoke anonymously.

"She said she had no choice but to go along with it," the sister said. "She doesn't blame Mr. Taylor because he had no idea."

The older sister said the "date" was arranged by a music producer who knows Taylor and Davis.

"He relayed the message that Mr. Taylor was willing to pay $300 for a skinny Spanish girl," the sister said. "Since Rasheed knew my sister, he volunteered her for this."

After taking a car service from Newark Airport to the Holiday Inn, Taylor spent an hour with the teenager in Room 160 while Davis sat waiting in a car, police said.

"I know she is very traumatized by it," the sister said. "She was taking showers a lot. She said she feels very dirty."

Taylor was not her only client, according to the complaint against Davis, which states he forced her to "engage in multiple commercial sex acts with various individuals."

Davis took nearly nude photos of the girl with his cell phone and used them to hustle up customers on the Web.

An ex-con who did time for manslaughter and lives with his mother, Davis kept a price list for the specific sexual acts - $150 for intercourse - and doped up the teen with marijuana and Ecstasy before pimping her out, the document states.

On Wednesday, sources said, Davis got a text message from a middleman who said he had a client willing to pay double Davis' rate for sex.

That client, police said, turned out to be Taylor. When cops busted Davis, he had a piece of paper with the Holiday Inn's address and a "room number."

A used condom reportedly was found in the room. Taylor was charged later with third-degree rape and patronizing a prostitute - charges that could send him to the slammer for up to four years if convicted.

The age of consent in New York is 17. Ignorance of the victim's age is not a defense, police said.

Taylor got some more bad news Friday: Weight-loss company Nutrisystem considers him a 230-pound liability and dropped him as a pitchman.

"Based on the severity of these allegations, Nutrisystem has made the decision to sever our relationship with Mr. Taylor effective immediately," a spokesman for the Horsham, Pa.-based company said.

For Lawrence Taylor, nothing was out of bounds once he stepped off the football field.

The greatest linebacker in Giants history has been a crackhead, deadbeat dad and convicted tax cheat. He struggled with sobriety, responsibility and fidelity - and contemplated suicide.

"I could've been dead," the Hall of Famer said in a 2003 "60 Minutes" interview. "I could've OD'ed. I could've been shot."

Taylor survived and thrived, insisting he stayed off cocaine after a 1998 stint in rehab. But tales of his destructive drug habit and constant legal woes were as numerous as his 132-1/2 sacks.

The linebacker once appeared for a Giants team meeting in handcuffs - a memento of a late-night threesome.

He admitted beating an NFL drug test by borrowing clean urine, although he later failed a pair of tests and was suspended for four games in 1988.

Despite his antics, Taylor was a devastating defensive weapon who revolutionized his position. He won the NFL's 1986 MVP, an honor almost exclusively won by quarterbacks and running backs.

His blitzing style, size and speed made Taylor the toast of New York as his Giants won a pair of Super Bowls.

Yet the day his number was retired, Taylor prepared for his Giants Stadium appearance by hitting the crack pipe.

Taylor said he first snorted cocaine as a rookie in 1981. But his harrowing descent into addiction followed the thrice-married star's 1993 retirement.

His Upper Saddle River mansion, by his own account, became "a crack house" where he smoked $1,000 worth of dope per day.

He was busted in May 1996 for trying to buy crack in South Carolina. "I ought to kill myself," LT said before being busted twice more on drug-related charges in the next two years.

In 1998, he was arrested for stiffing his ex-wife on support payments for their three kids - and later declared bankruptcy.

A recent bust was typically bizarre: Cops in Miami-Dade County popped LT in November for leaving the scene of an accident.

Taylor's 2009 Cadillac Escalade lost its front right tire in the crash, but LT drove 2 miles on the axle, police said.

Despite his efforts to stay clean, Taylor said in a recent interview that his favorite late night snack was "Chivas on the rocks."

Lawrence Taylor's teen victim texted 'Help me!' to hero uncle who called police
BY Joe Kemp
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER
Sunday, May 9th 2010, 4:00 AM

The hero uncle of the 16-year-old girl allegedly forced to have sex with disgraced Giants great Lawrence Taylor recalled the gut-wretching message he received from his terrified niece Saturday night.

"Tio, help me! help me!" he said the girl texted him. "She said, 'This guy is forcing me to do this. He hit me. He abused me.'"

The runaway teen had text-messaged the uncle on her way to the Holiday Inn in Montebello, N.Y., after she was allegedly beaten by her pimp, Rasheed Davis, and pressured into having sex with the 51-year-old Hall of Famer early Thursday morning, the uncle said.

The uncle, whose name The News is withholding, dialed 911 and cops were waiting for Davis, 36, when they returned to his Bronx home, where he lives with his mother.

"She just wanted to get out of the situation," her uncle said. "She said she's not the type of person to be doing this.

"I feel happy that I saved her life," he said. "It's heartbreaking."

The young girl moved in with Davis after he found her at a bus stop on Boston Post Road, four weeks after she ran away from home in March.

The ex-linebacker admitted to paying $300 for sex with the girl but said he didn't know she was underage, court papers show.

Davis - who was released from prison in 2008 after serving 15 years for manslaughter - allegedly brought the girl to Taylor's hotel room and told her to say she was 19 years old, prosecutors said.

The uncle said the teen didn't recognize her john.

"She never knew that he was a football player," he said.

"It's been very stressful," the uncle said of the past few days. "I can't sleep."

A woman has come forward as a defense witness in the sexual assault case against Lawrence Taylor, saying the 16-year-old girl who accused the NFL legend of rape never had sex with him, according to a statement from the woman confirmed Friday by Taylor's attorney.

The 23-year-old woman said in a sworn statement that she accompanied an alleged pimp and the 16-year-old girl to a hotel outside New York City where Taylor was staying. She said the teenager returned to the car with $300 in cash and said: "It was weird ... we didn't even have sex."

The woman is a stripper who lived in a Bronx apartment with the alleged pimp, Rasheed Davis, and the girl. She said in the statement that she was with the two when New York City police arrested Davis and took the girl to a hospital.

Giants Legend LT Indicted On Rape, 5 Other Charges

NEW YORK (AP) ― Former Giants star Lawrence Taylor was indicted Wednesday after being accused of rape last month.

Taylor was indicted on six charges including rape, endangering the welfare of a child and patronizing a prostitute, according to CBS station WCBS-TV in New York.

The Hall of Fame linebacker is accused of raping a 16-year-old girl last month at a Holiday Inn Hotel in a Rockland County town.

The indictment also alleges that Taylor paid the teenager $300 after performing the sexual acts.

The victim tells investigators she was threatened and physically assault by another individual before being taken to the hotel room.

The victim told investigators her pimp had her tell the football star that she was 19-years-old, according to court documents.

CBS 2 obtained a copy of the criminal complaint filed against Rasheed Davis, the man who police said beat the teenage runway before driving her to the Holiday Inn Holidome Hotel where Taylor was staying late Wednesday night.

The criminal complaint refers to the teen as "Victim-1," while referring to Taylor as "Client-1."

In the complaint, the teen told police that about three weeks ago, Davis offered her a place to stay for $150 a week and told her they could make money as a prostitute. The teen said Davis would charge potential clients $80 for oral sex and $150 for sexual intercourse.

The teen also said Davis gave the teen marijuana and the drug commonly known as "ecstasy" before meeting with clients.

If convicted, Taylor faces a maximum of 4 years in state prison.

Taylor anchored the Giants' defense and led them to Super Bowl titles in 1987 and 1991. He was selected to the NFL's 75th Anniversary All-Time Team.

A 10-time Pro Bowler, he was the NFL Most Valuable Player in 1986 and the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 1981, 1982 and 1986.

The weight-loss company NutriSystem Inc. said Friday it had dropped Taylor as a spokesman because of his arrest.
