Police Search For Man Who Raped Elderly Woman

Cincinnati police are looking for a man who allegedly broke into an elderly woman's home Tuesday night and raped her.

The incident happened just before midnight at a home in the 3000 block of Temple Avenue.

The police report says the man climbed through an open window in the back of the house and confronted the 75-year-old woman. He demanded money but she said she didn't have any. That's when he raped her and fled, according to police.
The woman was taken to University Hospital to be examined.


The suspect is described as:

African American

In his 30's
About 5'10" tall
With short black hair and buck teeth.
He was wearing a green and white shirt and baggy jeans.

Cincinnati police have released a sketch of the man they say raped an elderly woman in Westwood.

The 75-year-old woman tells police the man broke into her home, demanded money, raped her and then ran.

The assault happened a little before midnight on Tuesday in the 3000 block of Temple Avenue.

Police say the suspect is an African American male, age 30-35, weighing 160 pounds, and about 5'5" to 5'7" tall.

Arrest Made In Westwood Rape, Burglary Case
Cincinnati police have made an arrest in a Westwood rape case that dates back to early September.

Police took Kenneth Ruff into custody in downtown Cincinnati Wednesday afternoon.

Ruff was taken in for questioning about an incident that took place on September 9 on the 8000 block of Temple Avenue in Westwood.

He allegedly burst into a home there and raped a woman.

A judge set his bond at $1 million on Thursday.

Suspect Indicted in Three Rapes


It took science and old fashioned police work to tie a 43 year-old man to three rapes, going back to 2002.

Kenneth Ruff was indicted today for the rape of a 75 year-old woman earlier this month, and two others, including a teenager.

Kenneth Ruff was arrested earlier this month for the rape of a woman in a Westwood senior citizen apartment.

She says he climbed through her bedroom window, raped her, then stole her cell phone.

He left behind his DNA, but without a person to match it to, it's just a genetic profile.

Sgt. Dave Simpson, CPD Personal Crimes: "They were relentless, wouldn't give up. This case went above and beyond to develop a suspect."

Detectives went back to basics. They had several nicknames, when they started knocking on doors around Westwood, until the suspect list narrowed down to one... Kenneth Ruff.

His DNA matched DNA from the Westwood scene and more. It also matched an unsolved rape in January on Harrison Avenue and the 2002 sexual assault of a teenager in Carthage.

Police are now going over other unsolved rape cases.

"Got a lot of cases, notes to go over... a lot to go over."

For now, Ruff faces a six count indictment, including rape, burglary, for crimes against two women and a teen. There is a lot of time between that teenager in 2002 and the two women this year... a lot of time, a lot of unsolved sex crimes to check out.
