CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Police have arrested a man they say has been pretending to be a police officer to rape and rob his victims.

According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD), the most recent incident happened this week at the Comfort Inn and Suites at 7735 University City Boulevard.

The female victim said the suspect, Wayne Ford, came to her room and showed her a badge and a handgun. The woman alleges that Ford sexually assaulted and robbed her.

Police say Ford is also wanted for a similar incident involving another victim.

During that incident, a ma
n matching Ford's description also pretended he was a cop and revealed a gun in his waistband.

Police think he is a suspect in a number of incidents involving indecent exposure and armed robbery.

Officers arrested Ford near his home and they charged him with first-degree rape, first-degree kidnapping, first-degree sex offense, armed robbery and impersonating a law enforcement officer.
