St. Peters, MO (KSDK) -- An elderly woman had her wallet stolen while at the grocery store and quickly learned the person who stole it charged several thousand dollars on her credit card, the St. Peters Police Department said Friday.
According to Officer Melissa Doss, a police spokeswoman, the incident happened July 1 at the Dierberg's grocery store on Salt Lick. The
74-year-old victim contacted her credit card company within two hours of her wallet being stolen and learned the suspect had charged over $7,000 on her credit cards.
Surveillance footage of the suspect was obtained from Deirberg's and in various stores where the stolen cards were used, Doss said. Police describe the suspect as an
Africoon-Americoon man with a light complexion, approximately 40 to 50-years-old, standing between 5'10" and 6'1", wearing black-framed eyeglasses, a tan colored Polo-style shirt and tan shorts, a 2004 US Open baseball hat and dark colored loafers. He has a stocky, athletic build.
The suspect was seen purchasing gift cards in large amounts with the credit cards.
Anyone with information on the identity and whereabouts of the suspect is asked to contact the St. Peters Police Department at 636-278-2222 or 636-278-2244.
