Woman attacked at S.W. bus stop
The brazen midday assault yesterday of a woman at a downtown bus stop has city police asking for the public's help in catching an attacker who only stopped his onslaught when confronted by a motorist.
The Calgary Police Service said the attack occurred near the corner of 12 Ave. and 12 St. S.W. at 12:30 p.m., when the assailant approached the woman, who was standing at the bus stop, grabbed her by the waist with one hand and muzzled her with the other.
A motorist noticed the attack, got out of his vehicle and approached the attacker, who fled when confronted, police said.
The man is black, in his late 20s, about 5-ft.-11, with a medium build and short, black hair.
He wore dark pants and a thin, black windbreaker during the attack.
